Abstract

Mental health issues among adolescents are on the rise due to academic pressure, social dynamics, and the influence of digital media, necessitating preventive efforts through a character education approach. One such effort involves internalizing Pancasila values to serve as a moral and social foundation for improving adolescent mental health. This community service initiative was designed to strengthen students' understanding of mental health by internalizing Pancasila values through a counseling-based approach. The implementation methods included counseling sessions, simulations of practicing Pancasila values, and evaluations using pre-tests and post-tests. Participants included 34 seventh-grade students from SMP Negeri 1 Jaten enrolled in a guidance class, alongside the community service team. A questionnaire was used to measure students' understanding of various mental health issues. The results demonstrated an improvement in students' understanding across all evaluated aspects, evidenced by an average score increase of 22–27 points between the pre-test and post-test. The activity concludes that internalizing Pancasila values is effective in raising mental health awareness and building emotional resilience among adolescents, thereby serving as a relevant prevention strategy.
