Efektivitas Perlakuan Sungkup pada Batang Bawah dan Berbagai Umur Batang Bawah terhadap Keberhasilan Sambung Pucuk Alpukat Siger (Persea Americana)
Abstract
Vegetative propagation through grafting is an important method for producing high-quality Siger avocado (*Persea americana*) seedlings. This study aimed to determine the effects of rootstock covering and rootstock age on the success of Siger avocado grafting. The study was conducted in Denggungan Village, Banyudono, Boyolali, using a factorial Completely Randomized Design with two factors and five replications. The first factor was rootstock covering (A₁: covered; A₂: uncovered), while the second was rootstock age (B₁: 4 weeks, B₂: 5 weeks, and B₃: 6 weeks). Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at 5%. Rootstock covering significantly increased seedling height, post-grafting plant height, leaf number, and leaf width. Four-week-old rootstocks produced the highest post-grafting plant height (26.70 cm) and leaf number (15.24 leaves). No significant interaction was found between covering and rootstock age for all observed parameters. The combination of covering and 4-week-old rootstocks (A₁B₁) showed the best vegetative performance and is recommended for efficient Siger avocado seedling production.
