Abstract

This article discusses the socialization of Islamic educational values through Malay ethno-parenting on Bengkalis Island. The activity was conducted as a community service program using an educational-participatory approach that combined preliminary study, literature review, educational sessions, focus group discussion, and simulation of ethno-parenting practices. The discussion describes how religious, moral, cultural, and social values are transmitted through parental modeling, habituation, advice, family traditions, and community educational practices. The practices discussed include pregnancy rituals, Walimah tasmiyah, rocking and singing to children, turun tanah, afternoon Qur’anic learning, and afternoon schooling. These practices connect tauhid, adab, compassion, responsibility, discipline, social solidarity, and cultural identity. The evaluation component focused on participant engagement and qualitative understanding during discussion and simulation; however, the manuscript still needs to report the original participant-level evaluation data more explicitly. The article therefore emphasizes the educational meaning of the practices while limiting claims about program outcomes to evidence available in the activity documentation.
