Abstract

This study examines the effect of risk profile and capital adequacy on the profit performance of PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia. Risk profile is proxied by the Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR) and Non-Performing Financing (NPF), while capital adequacy is measured by the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR). Profit performance is proxied by Return on Assets (ROA). A quantitative approach was employed using secondary quarterly financial-ratio data from Bank Muamalat Indonesia comprising 44 observations. The data were analyzed using an Error Correction Model (ECM) with EViews 10. The short-run estimates show that FDR has a positive and significant effect on ROA (coefficient 0.011713; p=0.0172), NPF has a negative and significant effect on ROA (coefficient -0.079003; p=0.0252), and CAR has a positive but statistically insignificant effect (coefficient 0.002011; p=0.8915). In the long run, FDR, NPF, and CAR have negative but statistically insignificant effects on ROA. These findings indicate that changes in financing liquidity and financing quality are more immediately reflected in bank profitability in the short run, whereas capital adequacy does not exhibit a statistically strong effect on ROA during the observation period.
