Abstract

Islamic Religious Education in Islamic higher education needs to connect religious knowledge with spiritual development, ethical responsibility, and the cultivation of adab. This study examines the thoughts of Ibn Arabi, Rumi, and Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas to formulate principles for reconstructing an Islamic Religious Education curriculum based on Pedagogy of Love. Using a conceptual-critical approach and library research, the study analyzes primary philosophical works and relevant secondary literature through conceptual reconstruction, contextual interpretation, critical comparison, and the formulation of curricular implications. The findings identify three related dimensions: love as an ethical-spiritual orientation, self-transformation as a process of inner change, and adab as the connection between knowledge and responsible action. These dimensions inform curricular principles for learning objectives, materials, pedagogical processes, and assessment. The proposed reconstruction emphasizes the integration of religious knowledge, ethical reasoning, self-reflection, and responsible use of knowledge without assuming that spiritual orientation automatically produces behavioral change. As a conceptual study, the proposed principles require empirical investigation in Islamic higher education.
